Just thought I'd post this, as the Ka section of FAF seems very quiet these days...!
The UK mob that pass through here will see this as old news, but maybe it's of interest anyway.
Once I'd reached 100,000 miles on my original endura 1.3 engine, I decided to invest in an upgrade, to keep the old girl running sweet. I've had the Ka for over 4 years now.
I went for reliability rather than mega-power, this engine is taken from a Ford Puma, so it's the 1.7 Zetec SE with VCT.
Had it dyno-tested the other weekend and it showed 121bhp at the flywheel, with 85.5bhp at the road wheels, and 109lbf-ft of torque. Which is quite quick in a small car that weighs around 950kg.
I tried adding the superchips bluefin ECU upgrade to boost that figure but it didn't install properly so no gain was achieved. I got my money back from superchips, so I will try a more conventional method such as a Unichip with uprated cams at a later date.
Anyway, here's the photo of it so far, I'm always spending the odd hour here and there to make it look nicer.
